Alcohol in Tangier: what to know
  • It is served in bars, hotels and licensed restaurants, not in traditional cafés.
  • To take away, it is sold in a few specialist shops, not in neighbourhood grocery stores.
  • Drinking in the street or in a public place is not allowed: drink on the premises or where you are staying.
  • During Ramadan, many outlets close or reduce their opening hours.
  • Do not drive after drinking: go home by petit taxi.
